want thick, long hair: micro loops vs. pre bonded hair extensions

micro loops vs. pre bonded

if you are considering getting hair extensions and in the mornings you just don't have the time to put in clip in extensions your other options are looking at get something more permanent, micro loops or pre bonded extensions would be something you might want to look into. more and more hairdressers all over the uk now apply the hair and some even stock it, i can be very pricey but its like borrowing someones thick long hair for on average 6-8 weeks, i have previously used both method but i will tell you that the ones i use most are micro loops and heres why.

micro loops:

  • the micro loops are applied to your hair with little metal links which should have a silicone centre to protect your hair.
  • there easily applied and removed using a very simple method all you need is a pair of pliers.
  • its a easy way to add highlights to your natural hair or even add them in with a full head to create a whole new look.
  • personally i think that they fall more then pre bonded but pre bonded can not be reapplied yourself unless you have the necessary tools where as the micro loops can easily be re applied yourself or by a friend with a household pair of pliers.
  • to apply micro loops you need to use hair the same thickness as the strand, pull it through the metal ring using the plastic loop then pull it ring so its about 2 cm away from your roots and clamp down to attach it make sure its secure and thats it.
  • to remove you will need to go back into your hair and one by one clamp down on the ring facing the opposite way from which you put them in forcing the ring back into a circle and it should just fall straight out.
  • to reuse the micro loop you will just need to keep hold of a plastic loop and thread it back through so you can pull the hair through.

pre bonded:

  • pre bonded hair extensions are strands of hair with dried glue on the tip, which you heat up to apply.
  • you will need a professional to attach these to your head as theres risk of burns otherwise.
  • its a easy way to add highlights to your natural hair or even add them in with a full head to create a whole new look.
  • if your looking for very secure hair extensions and you don't mind having to take regular trips to get maintenance then this method is best for you as there is hardly any risk of extensions falling out its more likely you will lose you own hair than a extension :) .
  • pre bonded hair extensions are applied to your hair with a glue that is already attached to the strand, when you have the pieces of hair your attaching the strand to place the extension under the hair 2 cm away from the roots then using your extensions bonding tools you will heat up the glue then remove the heat and using finger protectors you will roll it upwards so both sides meet and then push flat so it neatly sits under your hair.
  • to remove pre bonded hair extensions you will need a professional again or a friend you trust ALOT, as you will be using acitone and pliers, acitone can be very drying on your hair so please don't do this at home. wet a cotton pad with acitone and wrap it around the bond for 30 seconds, then use pliers to crack the bond, its should crumble and fall out.
  • if you would like to reuse the hair you will need to replace the glue on it, as the acitone will have removed the glue from the hair.

hope this has helped you to decide which hair extensions best suit you,
